Ajla Tomljanovic begins 2022 in Adelaide, where she bows out in the second round against Sofia Kenin. Her own fate befalls her in Sydney, where she is knocked out by Paula Badosa in the second round. At the Australian Open, on the other hand, she yields in her debut, again against Badosa.
At Indian Wells she beat Haley Baptiste in the first round but then lost to Sorana Cirstea. In Miami she is immediately eliminated by qualifier Lucia Bronzetti. She begins the season on clay court in Charleston where she stops in the second round.
In Madrid she does not pass the first round, defeated by Garbine Muguruza, while in Rome she gets the better of Camila Giorgi in the first set, who then retires 4-2 in the second. She goes out in the second round to future tournament finalist Ons Jabeur.
At the French Open, she beats fifth-seeded match favorite Anett Kontaveit in straight sets. However she is forced to surrender for the second time in the season to Graceva, in 2 hours and 40 minutes. She takes part in the grass tournament in Nottingham, as the fifth seed, and stops in the quarterfinals.
In Eastbourne she was knocked out by future tournament finalist Jelena Ostapenko.

At Wimbledon she beats Jil Teichmann and Catherine Harrison in straight sets, while in the third round she faces former world number two Barbora Krejčíková.
The Australian, after losing the first set 2-6, comes back and wins the remaining two sets 6-4 6-3, thus reaching the fourth round at Wimbledon for the second consecutive time. However, here she is overtaken 6-4 2-6 3-6 by the Kazakh Elena Rybakina.
She later contested the US Open, where she defeated Karolína Muchová and then Evgenija Rodina in the first round. In the third round, she defeated multiple tournament champion Serena Williams in a three-hour battle, in what was the American’s last match before retiring from competitive sport.
She then reaches the round of 16 in New York for the first time in her career, where she beats Ljudmila Samsonova and reaches her first quarterfinals of the tournament, where she is defeated in straight sets by the Tunisian Ons Jabeur.
On her Instagram, the beautiful Croatian tennis player often shares shots of her private life as well as the court. In one of her latest photos, she is wearing a black shirt dress with no top underneath and matching skirt.
