Three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray admits he is honored to be receiving messages of praise from the likes of Novak Djokovic and Iga Swiatek. Speaking about Murray’s heroics at the start of the season, Djokovic said that “it is just something you must admire and say ‘chapeau.’
” Meanwhile, Swiatek told Murray: “And you are a resilience role model and an inspiration on so many levels.” Murray, a former world No 1, acknowledged that he also has “a lot of respect” for the current top-ranked players in the men’s and women’s game.
“It’s nice getting messages from those players. Obviously, I have a lot of respect for them,” Andy Murray said during a recent interview with The Times.

Murray, 35, turned back the clock at the start of the 2023 season.
In the Australian Open first round, Murray saved a match point en route to upsetting Matteo Berrettini. In his next match, Murray recovered from two sets down to beat Thanasi Kokkinakis in a match that lasted nearly six hours.
Last week in Doha, Murray saved three match points against Lorenzo Sonego and five more in the semifinal against Jiri Lehecka, respectively. “It’s not happened in my career before, I’m aware that the matches I’ve had this year have been ridiculous.
It seems that I have had six, seven matches in a row that were all epic ones. I had multiple conversations with my team last year, especially at the back end, and I just couldn’t win a tight match. I was like, ‘When I win one or two of these it is going to change.
I’m not going to keep losing these matches by a few points or a couple of games.’ Obviously, it’s been a pretty dramatic shift,” Murray said. After a runner-up finish, Murray decided not to play in Dubai this week. Murray is expected to return to action at the Indian Wells Masters.
