Andy Murray reveals he loves watching Emma Raducanu and Iga Swiatek. Murray, 35, has been mentoring Raducanu a bit and the 2021 US Open champion has said several times she would absolutely love to one day play mixed doubles with Murray at Wimbledon.
When it comes to Swiatek, the 21-year-old Pole is a three-time Grand Slam champion and the top-ranked player in the women’s game. “I love watching (Iga) Swiatek, she moves great, the shape she plays with on the ball.
I always watch Emma (Raducanu) matches when I can, but I do love watching Swiatek,” Murray told Eurosport. When it comes to the men’s game, Murray loves watching Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev. “I love watching (Carlos) Alcaraz, he’s great to watch with his game style, his personality on the court.
I also enjoy watching Medvedev, just because he’s got such a different game to a lot of the players. He’s very unorthodox, nothing he does on court is textbook,” Murray said.
Murray would love to play at the French Open again
Murray, who will be turning 36 in May, hasn’t played at the French Open since 2017.
In 2017, Murray made the French Open semifinal before losing to Stan Wawrinka in a five-set thriller. Shortly after that defeat, Murray started experiencing major hip problems. Murray, the 2016 French Open runner-up, hasn’t played at Roland Garros since 2017 but there is a chance he returns to the tournament this year.
“I’m planning on playing here, in Madrid and Rome, and then depending on how the body feels and how I’m playing, I’ll decide on the French Open. If I feel like I can have a good run there, I would like to play.
I’ve not really played much there since 2017, and I don’t know how many more chances I’ll get to play there. Whilst I’m feeling good, I would love to do it again,” Murray said.
