Bob and Mike Bryan are backing Emma Raducanu to figure it out and achieve more Grand Slam success in the future. This week, Raducanu suffered a first-round defeat at the US Open, and she has now officially gone a year without winning a title.
Since winning the US Open, Raducanu has been struggling with her game but also with injuries. Two weeks ago in Cincinnati, Raducanu had her most impressive moment of the season. After beating Serena Williams 6-4 6-0, Raducanu defeated Victoria Azarenka in the following match 6-0 6-2.
“It happens in all sports when you have increased expectations and pressures,” Bob Bryan told Tennis365. “She is not spending so much time on the court now. She has photo shoots and sponsor commitments. That’s all part of growing up and becoming a superstar.
She is going to get better at dealing with that as she grows up and gets more experienced and I think you are going to see her solidify herself in the top ten next year. She has got the game. We saw what she did to Serena Williams in Cincinnati.
All the potential is there and it’s all about putting it together day after day”.
The Bryan brothers think Raducanu will be just fine
There has been lots of attention on Raducanu since her stunning 2021 US Open triumph.
Raducanu’s position hasn’t been easy but the general belief is that she has been handling it well so far, at least publicly. Mike Bryan described Raducanu as a “very likable” character and tipped her to achieve more success.
“She is really, really likable and she has done great things for the sport. We are always rooting for her. And Leylah Fernandez as well. That match for women’s tennis was cool. I’m sure she can come back. You don’t win a Grand Slam title by luck and I believe we will see Raducanu back at the top of the rankings sooner rather than later,” Mike Bryan said of Raducanu.
Oh yeah, she beat Serena at her best.
