
Cameron Morra of Duke University, was named the ACC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week. As reported by the University website, after the ITA Kickoff Weekend, Cameron Morra has obtained this prestigious award. With the victories over the weekend, Duke advanced to the ITA National Team Indoors, which takes place February 10-13 in Seattle, Wash.
It will mark the 30th time in school history that the Blue Devils have played in the major indoor event. Duke will wrap up an eight-game homestand this weekend as the Blue Devils host Harvard on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 12 p.m., followed by a pair of games Sunday, Feb.
5 against Georgetown Morra went 2-0 in doubles helping Duke pick up the doubles point in both games. Paired with Chloe Beck, Duke’s No. 13 pairing improved to 17-3 on the season and 4-0 in double play. Morra had her first singles win Sunday against Wisconsin, 6-4, 6-1, over 59th-ranked Maria Sholokhova and was leading, 6-0, 5-2, against VCU’s Yelizaveta Karlova when the match won on Saturday.
Over the course of his career, Morra owns a 97-39 singles ledger and is three wins away from reaching the 100-hit mark. She earned the ACC Player of the Week honor for the second time in her career when she received the accolade on April 5 of last year.
Morra has earned ACC Weekly honors a total of six times during her career as she was named ACC Freshman of the Week four times in 2019.

The Blue Devils return eight letter winners from a year ago and welcome two freshmen in Pedro Rodenas and Teddy Truwit. The ranking places Garrett Johns fourth in singles. Johns compiled a 6-2 roster, including a semifinal appearance at the ITA National Fall Championships.
He also won the Sportsmanship Award by unanimous vote.
Joining him in the singles rankings were rookie Rodenas and senior Andrew Zhang ranked No. 84 and No. 101, respectively. Competing on his first collegiate fall roster, Rodenas earned a 5-3 record and was one of only four freshmen in the country to advance through the main draw qualifying round of the ITA All-American Championships.
Zhang, who posted a 9-3 mark, reached the semifinals of the ITA Carolina Regional Championships in both singles and doubles.
The Blue Devils also saw the doubles duo of Michael Heller and Zhang ranked in the bottom roster, resulting in a No.
2 finish. 49. The pair put together a 5-2 ledger during the fall season and advanced to the round of 16 at the ITA National Fall Championships.
