
Coastal Carolina University men’s tennis team opens this week at home, the 2023 spring season with Francis Marion on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Stevens Tennis Complex in Conway.
As reported by the Coastal Carolina University website, the Chanticleers are off to a 3-0 start this spring, with all three wins coming on the road against inland foes.
CCU defeated South Carolina State 4-3 last Thursday in Orangeburg, S.C. Francis Marion has yet to play this spring and will use this game against the Chanticleers as an exhibition game.
In singles, Toresan is 2-0 on aggregate with a win on both No.
3 and at no. 5, while fellow Chants Rivers Cahill and O’Connor are both 1-0 up in the spring season. Four Chants are 2-1 overall in singles action this week, as Ata is 2-0 in fly #1. 2, while Wayenburg is 2-0 in the No. Tomac had one win each on flights no.
4 and no. 5, while Mundt recorded a win at both No. 5 and no. 6 so far this spring. In doubles played so far this season, the Chants are a perfect 5-0 ahead of a 2-0 team record of Carlos Berna Ruiz and Steve Mundt, while Lucas Wayenburg has won in each of his two doubles meetings, winning one with partner Guilherme Toresan and the other alongside Neil O’Connor.
The duo of Ryuya Ata and Maj Tomac are 1-0 on the season, securing a doubles win in the season opener at The Citadel (January 16). Their game at SC State was unfinished as the doubles point was decided with their matchup tied at 4-4.
