The DP World Tour from Singapore moves to Bangkok for the Thailand Classic, scheduled for February 16-19 on the Amata Spring CC course which recently hosted the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship. The event, which offers $2,000,000, returns to the top continental circuit seven years after the last time.
Now in its third edition, it will also see two Italians on the field: Edoardo Molinari from Turin, vice-captain of the Europe team at the Ryder Cup in Rome, scheduled from 29 September to 1 October, and Guido Migliozzi from Vicenza, called to redeem the last two cut releases arrived in the United Arab Emirates respectively in the Hero Dubai Desert Classic and in the Ras Al Khaimah Championship.
DP World Tour, schedule
Among the darlings of the public, glory is sought at home by Kiradech Aphibarnrat and the veteran Thongchai Jaidee (for him eight successes in his career on the circuit, the last in 2016 when he beat Francesco Molinari by four strokes at the Open de France), the first Thai to have imposed on the circuit (in 2004 on the occasion of the Malaysian Open), which will play the first two rounds with Migliozzi and with the Englishman Jordan Smith.
From the Spaniards Adrian Otaegui, Jorge Campillo, Rafa Cabrera Bello and Pablo Larrazabal to the Germans Hurly Long, Yannik Paul and Freddy Schott. From the Danish Nicolai Hojgaard, to the Scottish Robert MacIntyre, passing through the Scots Connor Syme and Scott Jamieson, up to the South Africans Daniel Van Tonder and George Coetzee.
These are some of the favorites for the Thailand Classic title, the tournament that precedes the Hero Indian Open (February 23-26 in New Delhi) and which will take place at the Amata Spring CC. Club that boasts one of the most fascinating holes (the 17, par 3) in the world with a floating green that can be lengthened or shortened using underwater pulleys.
