Emma Raducanu reveals Wimbledon is the next Grand Slam she would like to win. Raducanu, 20, became a Grand Slam champion after winning the 2021 Us Open as a qualifier. On Friday, Raducanu took part in a Q&A session with fans on Instagram.
“What Grand Slam you want next?” a fan asked Raducanu. Raducanu answered by posting a photo of a Wimbledon court on her Instagram Story.
How has Raducanu done at Wimbledon so far?
In 2021, Raducanu made her Wimbledon main draw debut after being handed a main draw wildcard.
In her first Wimbledon appearance, Raducanu did extremely well as she made the round-of-16. In the round-of-16, Raducanu was forced to retire midway through the match against Ajla Tomljanovic. Later, it was reported that Raducanu experienced a panic attack on the court, which led to breathing difficulties.
Last year, Raducanu made her second Wimbledon appearance. Raducanu started her 2022 Wimbledon campaign with a straight-set win over Alison Van Uytvanck, before suffering a 6-3 6-3 defeat to Caroline Garcia in the second round.
After exiting Wimbledon, Raducanu made one thing clear to those who were saying she was struggling because she was having a hard time managing pressure and expectations. “But I am 19 years old. Yes, I have had attention. But I’m a slam champion, so no one’s going to take that away from me.
Yeah, if anything, the pressure is on those who haven’t done that,” Raducanu underlined after exiting Wimbledon last year. Also, Raducanu vowed to get better and return stronger to Wimbledon in 2023. “I’ll just get better. I’ll just look at what’s not working, what my weaknesses are, improve them.
It’s good for me. These lessons are coming every single week. It’s just a reminder you got to do this, this, and that. It comes from different players so it just highlights it. Yeah, for me it’s just something to improve on,” Raducanu explained.
