Tiger Woods lights up the PGA Tour again. Back at the Genesis Invitational Tiger Woods offers an applause start and finish of the race, between feats and birdies that sent fans in California and whoever was in front of the TV or a PC into raptures.

Tiger Woods, results

In Pacific Palisades, the American champion did not disappoint as he closed the first round of the Genesis Invitational with a score of 69 (-2) shots. “The Big Cat” began his challenge by making a birdie on hole 1 of the Riviera Country Club (par 71), then marked the first of three bogeys on hole 4.

But in the last three holes he gave a show with three consecutive birdies and putts perfect. These shots sparked his exultation and that of the many fans who crowded the green for Woods’ return. All the spotlights on him, back on the field in a competition other than a Major.

Despite a stellar field, with 23 of the top 25 players in the world (and a prize pool of $ 20 million), Tiger Woods stole the show from the other big names, from Jon Rahm to Rory McIlroy, among the protagonists of the opening round .

After the first 18 holes, the Americans Max Homa and Keith Mitchell are at the top with 64 (-7). Behind them, just one shot away, is the Spaniard Rahm. Third (also in the world ranking) with 65 (-6), the Spaniard aims to return to the throne by ousting Scottie Scheffler.

The world number one is 44th with 70 (-1). McIlroy is seventh with 67 (-4). False start for Francesco Molinari. Fresh from the exit to the cut at the Phoenix Open, the Turinese is 121st with 76 (+5). The blue risks a new elimination.

Two birdies, three bogeys and two double bogeys for Molinari, who is in trouble. A start and a finish of the match with applause, between feats and birdies that sent the spectators present into raptures. In Pacific Palisades, in California, Tiger Woods did not disappoint.

The American champion closed the first round of the Genesis Invitational, a PGA Tour tournament, in 27th place with a score of 69 (-2) shots. “The Big Cat” began his challenge by making a birdie on the 1st hole of the Riviera Country Club (par 71), then he ‘scored’ the first of three bogeys on the 4th.

But in the last three ‘holes’ he gave a show with three consecutive birdies and perfect ‘putts’ which unleashed his exultation and that of the many fans who crowded the “green” for the return, yet another, of Woods. For the first time since 2020, the Californian returned to playing a PGA Tour tournament other than a Major.

Not just any event, but the one sponsored by his foundation and which Woods never won (he finished second twice instead). All the spotlights on him. Despite a stellar field, with 23 of the best 25 in the world (and a prize pool of 20 million dollars), Woods stole the show from the other big names in the discipline, from Jon Rahm to Rory McIlroy, among the protagonists of the opening lap .

After the first 18 holes, the Americans Max Homa and Keith Mitchell are at the top with 64 (-7). Behind them, one shot away from the summit, is Rahm. Third (also in the world ranking) with 65 (-6), the Spaniard aims to return to the throne by ousting Scottie Scheffler, only 44/o with 70 (-1) in California.

While the Northern Irishman McIlroy is 7/o with 67 (-4). Good start also for Collin Morikawa, 4/o with 66 (-5) like Matt Kuchar and Harris English. Further back Justin Thomas, 14/o with 68 (-3).
