The Masters is the biggest competition in the world of golf, and Phil Mickelson will be taking part in this year’s edition. As a result of Mickelson being extremely critical of the Pga Tour on a regular basis, he is considered one of the most controversial golfers currently.
It is still unclear what happened at the Augusta National clubhouse on Tuesday night. It seems that the Champions Dinner went well and went according to plan. When it came to Mickelson’s behavior at the Champions Dinner, Fuzzy Zoeller had a few things to say about it.
“We’re just 33 past champions in a room, all trying to get along,” -Fuzzy Zoeller told Golfweek “Nobody said a word about it [LIV Golf]. Phil sat near the end of the table and kept to himself. He didn’t speak at all”.
The fact that Mickelson was not talking much during the interview was also surprising to Tommy Aaron. “I wished him good luck, but I couldn’t believe how quiet he was. Phil took a very low profile. He didn’t say a word,” Aaron said.
Phil Mickelson’s statement
In an interview with the media after practice, Phil Mickelson spoke about his impressions of the event. “It’s great. It’s great to be back. It’s fun to play. We had a good time,” he said. Mickelson is happy to be part of this great competition again.
The Masters has left behind him a lot of memories and experiences that he will never forget. “It is my favorite week, so being here and being a part of it, and being able to experience this great place and what it means is so fun because, as a kid, you grow up dreaming about being a part of this.
You dream of winning it, being in contention, and then when you actually are a pro and you are playing here, you’re like, wow, I want to be a part of this every year. That’s the coolest thing about having won here is that you’re a part of this event and part of the history. It’s really, really special thing.”
