Green4Green will be the name of the energy consortium for Italian golf clubs inaugurated in recent weeks at a meeting in Tolcinasco. Federgolf, the engine of the initiative, sent the announced email to the clubs with the details of the project aimed at guaranteeing renewable and low-cost energy.
Green4Green, project
The consortium, with the consultancy firm Key to Energy behind it, aims to decouple golf clubs from traditional energy supply systems. The aim is to obtain energy from photovoltaic or wind or hydroelectric plants.
“Green4Green will aggregate all the circles present on the national territory into a single entity – reads the letter -, in order to invest in the purchase of green plants in various parts of the nation. The energy thus produced will be sent to the consortium clubs”.
Operation is quite linear: each entity, under the aegis of the Federation, will ask to join the consortium in order to have access to one or more renewable energy projects (the number is linked to the amount of energy needed).
Then Green4Green will look for the suitable site for the construction of the plant and then proceed with the activation. Finally, the energy will return to each individual circle “at pure operating cost” While the initial cost to set foot in the consortium remains to be quantified, Federgolf explains to the clubs the extent of the energy savings expected for the coming years.
According to estimates, savings for 2023 are around 10-20%. The figure will reach and exceed 50% from 2024 onwards. The initial investments could be repaid within 5/7 years. Chimenti has also talked about the Green4Green project in recent days with the Minister of Sport Abodi.
On 16 October 2017, by decree of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, he was appointed President of the Institute for Sports Credit, a social bank for the sustainable development of Sport and Culture and, consequently, President of the Special Funds Management Committee, an in separate management to the Institute, which administers the guarantee fund and the interest subsidy fund on behalf of the State for the development of sports infrastructures, as well as the culture fund, with the guarantee and interest subsidies sectors, for safeguard interventions and enhancement of cultural heritage.
Despite being the favorite candidate by CONI and its president Giovanni Malagò for the task of leading the organization of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games[7], on 21 October 2022 Abodi was appointed Minister for Sport and for youth policies in the Meloni government chaired by the leader of the Brothers of Italy.
