Viktor Hovland again. In the Bahamas, after last year’s success, the Norwegian is chasing an encore at the Hero World Challenge. World number 12, at the end of the second round with a total of 139 (69 70, -5) shots, the Norwegian remained alone in the lead in the unofficial tournament of the PGA Tour organized with the support of the Tiger Woods foundation.
The 25-year-old from Oslo is aiming to become the first player since 2006-2007 (Woods) to win back-to-back competitions. Behind him, in 2nd place with 140 (-4) are the Americans Scottie Scheffler (already runner up in 2021), Xander Schauffele, gold medal at the Tokyo Games, Collin Morikawa and Cameron Young.
Further back the South Korean Tom Kim, 6/o with 141 (-3). Far away the Spanish Jon Rahm, only 10/o with 144 (par).

An eagle show, four birdies and four bogeys for Hovland on the demanding course of the Albany Golf Club, where on the eve of the competition he was forced to forfeit Tiger Woods due to plantar fasciitis.
The second round of the Hero World Challenge 2022 has recently ended, the 20-man tournament that is part of the PGA Tour calendar even though it does not award points for the FedEx Cup (but yes for the world ranking). The Norwegian Viktor Hovland flies alone in the lead, who in a day that is not easy for everyone finds -2 which takes him to -5 and solitary leadership.
USA quartet in second place, with Scottie Scheffler who, at -4, chases the number 1 in the world (which he would get in case of victory). With him Xander Schauffele, Cameron Young and Collin Morikawa. Sixth place for the South Korean Tom Kim at -3, then Justin Thomas is seventh at -2, followed by Billy Horschel and the Austrian Sepp Straka at -1.
Tenth Tony Finau, the English Matt Fitzpatrick and the Spanish Jon Rahm, equal with par. Following them, thirteenth, are the South Korean Sungjae Im and Sam Burns at +1, while Kevin Kisner is 15th at +2. From here on out, for good measure, you see really big declines.
16th is the Englishman Tommy Fleetwood, who drops 10 places with +3 total and +4 laps, while Jordan Spieth goes up a bit, 17th at +4. However, the biggest crash is the work of Max Homa, 18th at +4 compared to today’s +6. 19th at +7 the Canadian Corey Conners, 20th and last Shane Lowry, with the Irishman dropping to +8 due to his own +5.
