World No 1 Iga Swiatek has shared the news that her fans wanted to see – the Pole has confirmed she will soon be returning to action. Swiatek, 21, came to Miami to defend her title before withdrawing late from the tournament due to a rib injury.
In her announcement, Swiatek also pulled out of the Poland and Kazakhstan Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers tie – which is taking place between April 14-15. Swiatek may be out of the Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers but she is still scheduled to play at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, which starts on April 17th.
“Soon (winking emoji),” Swiatek tweeted.

Swiatek set to defend her Stuttgart title
Last year, Swiatek enjoyed the best possible debut in Stuttgart as the Pole won the title after beating Aryna Sabalenka in the final.
“I loved the atmosphere in Stuttgart last year and am looking forward to this one. I especially appreciate tournaments so close to Poland because my fans can support me on-site and it makes the atmosphere even better; so, I’m happy confirm I’m going to play there in 2023,” Swiatek said in a statement.
The Stuttgart event is set to feature several top-10 players, with Swiatek highlighting the tournament’s player field. “The fact that Iga will also be coming to the 2023 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix is a fantastic compliment for the tournament.
I’m so pleased for our spectators. In confirming, she’s basically saying that she felt very much at home in Stuttgart. Her return also shows that the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix and its traditionally strong draw is exactly the right sporting challenge that a top player like Iga loves, and it’s one that she wants to take on,” Stuttgart tournament director Markus Gunthardt said.
Last year, Swiatek went without a loss during the entire clay season. It remains to be seen if Swiiatek can win back-to-back Stuttgart titles.
