World No 1 Iga Swiatek noted that she will keep her standards high but also underlined that she is “just human.” Swiatek, 21, suffered a 6-4 6-2 loss to Barbora Krejcikova in the Dubai final on Saturday. On Monday, Swiatek posted a message on her social media, revealing that she was bothered with a viral infection during the final.
Also, Swiatek congratulated Krejcikova on the performance she delivered. “Yesterday I was still in Dubai, today I’m in Warsaw, soon in Indian Wells. These last few weeks were intense, and challenging but we did a lot of good work and progress.
I enjoyed tournaments in Doha and Dubai and even though I lost the final in Dubai (huge congrats Barbora!) my level was good despite the infection and I gave it all I could at the moment. I can see that some of you have higher expectations of me but well.
I’m just human. I will keep my standards high, I will enjoy my time on tour and keep working hard. At the end of the day that is all I can control. My effort and engagement. Thank you all for the support and see you soon!” Swiatek said in a message posted on her Twitter.

Swiatek bounced back well in the Middle East
The start of the 2023 season didn’t go well for Swiatek, who suffered a disappointing Australian Open round-of-16.
After exiting the Australian Open, Swiatek blamed the wrong approach and attitude for her result. In mid-February, Swiatek returned to action in Doha, where she won the title with just five games dropped – that was the lowest number of games dropped en route to winning a title in tennis history.
In Dubai, Swiatek was also playing extremely well as she made the final with a total of nine games lost. In the Dubai final, Swiatek picked up a surprise defeat but Krejcikova came out playing fearless. Swiatek’s next tournament will be Indian Wells, where she is the defending champion.
