Jannik Sinner says coach Darren Cahill “fits perfectly” his team as he is more than happy about the work that has been done since the former Andre Agassi coach joined his team. Cahill, who famously worked with Agassi and also guided Simona Halep to two Grand Slam titles, joined Sinner’s team during last year’s grass season.
On the Tour, Cahill is well-known and one of the most respected coaches. “The best part of my relationship with Darren [Cahill] is mostly how well we understand each other, especially off the court. He’s a good person, very humble and fits perfectly in our team.
We can talk about everything and he knows how to handle certain situations,” Sinner told Tennis Channel, per Mario Boccardi.

Cahill believes Sinner can achieve his goals
When Sinner hired Cahill, he was already one of the best in the game.
But Sinner just wasn’t able to figure out how to deliver in the latter stages of Grand Slams and Masters tournaments. Now, Sinner is hoping Cahill can guide him to the Promised Land. “Jannik has everything to become No 1 in the world.
Before my arrival he was already a great player, among the top 10 in the rankings: he has incredible weapons and was well-trained. Now we need to watch his matches against the best tennis players around and understand what’s keeping him from beating them.
Then work on it. It definitely takes time, a couple of years and many match situations,” Cahill told La Repubblica. Also, Cahill feels 21-year-old Sinner can definitely further improve his game. “He can improve his serve, his transition game, he can be dominant from the baseline.
But the most important thing, when you train great players, is to keep improving their strengths. Jannik moves incredibly well, so we spend a lot of time on that aspect. It’s great to see how he’s so willing to try new things and try to improve, as long as you don’t stray too far from the type of player he is,” Cahill said of Sinner.
