Tennis – See how Isner’s injury looks like.
American John Isner updated his health status on Instagram after he broke his wrist in the first round US Open victory against Delbonis, which caused Isner to hand Holger Rune a walkover in the second round. According to the tall world number 42, his injury was repaired using “hardware”.
“Didn’t have the best fortunes in New York and broke my wrist in my 1st round of US Open win. I now have some new hardware that will be with me forever. It’s going to take a team to get me back out on the court in 2023 and I’m very appreciative of the care I’ve received from my team of medical experts.

Isner praised Serena Williams before retirement
American tennis star John Isner thinks Serena Williams belongs on the Mount Rushmore of Sports.
“I think tennis is going to miss Serena’s presence sorely. But the good thing about Serena I think is she will always be around. She’s an incredible athlete and will be every bit as popular when she’s done with tennis as she ever was when she was playing,” Isner said on Tennis Channel.
“She’s sort of in that rarefied air like a Michael Jordan or like a Wayne Gretzky and Roger Federer where she’s just sort of transcends the sport a bit. She will be missed. Fans, colleagues and everyone alike will miss watching her compete.
“Also, before the Flushing Meadows Grand Slam began, Isner had said the US Open will be “quite a scene” when Serena Williams kicks off her final tournament. “The US Open will be quite a scene this year as we say goodbye to the (GOAT emoji). What an amazing career that absolutely transcends the sport of tennis,” Isner wrote on Twitter.
