Former world number 1 Tiger Woods, 47, is already in Augusta to prepare for the Masters, the first Grand Slam of the season. This same Sunday he has trained in the course that will host the prestigious tournament whose champion wins the most desired garment in the world of golf, the ‘green jacket’
Tiger Woods, Masters
Woods last played an official tournament last February at the Genesis Invitational in Los Angeles (USA), where he made the cut. There, the American player said that his goal was to play all four Grand Slam tournaments in 2023 after retiring last year before the end of the PGA Championship and missing the US Open due to his health and fatigue.
“From now on, my goal every year will be to play at all the ‘bigs. I’m not going to play much more than that. My body, my leg and my back won’t allow me to play much more than that anymore. That will be my schedule in the future because of all the limitations I have,” Tiger explained.
At the 2022 Masters, Woods made his return to competitive golf in defiance of all expectations around him 14 months after a car accident seriously endangered his right leg and foot. Scottie Scheffler, the world number 1, defends the title this year.
Woods has won the Masters five times, more than anyone except his compatriot Jack Nicklaus, also the only golfer with more Grand Slam titles than him: 18 to 15 of the ‘Tiger’, who achieved the last one precisely at the 2019 Masters .
