Berrettini and Hurkacz join a star-studded Diriyah Tennis Cup player field as Daniil Medvedev, Nick Kyrgios, Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas are among the players that are expected to play in Riyadh.
Berrettini, 26, admits he has never been to Saudi Arabia before but he is optimistic he will have a great time in the country. “I´ve never been to Saudi Arabia, but I´m sure the atmosphere will be great and hopefully the tennis will inspire the local fans in particular the younger generation.
After some challenges this year, I look forward to competing against a very strong player field to see where my level is before the start of the new season,” Berrettini said, per the tournament’s press release.

Hurkacz is also looking forward to competing in Riyadh as he believes that playing against some of the best players in the game is a perfect way to prepare for the new season.
“It’s a great opportunity playing tournaments like the Diriyah Tennis Cup because you can give your best against some of the best players worldwide. It helps you to see things in your game you should improve during your off season and until January you have a bit of time to make adjustments,” Hurkacz said.
Berrettini last played in late October, when he ended as runner-up in Naples. In Naples, Berrettini sustained an injury that forced him to skip Vienna, Paris and the Davis Cup Finals. Berrettini is seemingly back to feeling healthy again as he and Hurkacz are set to be one of the stars that will compete in Saudi Arabia this week.
