
Monmouth University men’s tennis head coach Chris Leicht has announced the addition of three new student-athletes to the program for the upcoming 2023-2024 fall semester, as reported by the Hawks University website. The new faces that will be added will be Gabriel Berner, Adam Hillerby and Patricio Gallegos.
Head coach Leicht expalined: “We are delighted to add these three players to our Monmouth men’s tennis program. I am confident they will be tremendous additions to our team.” About the new elements, Berner will be the only freshman, joining the team in Stockholm, Sweden.
He attended high school at Stockholm’s Idrottsgymnasium and is a two-time national doubles champion in the U14 age group. Berner also won doubles titles at two ITF tournaments. He currently has a universal tennis rating of 11.31.
Hillerby has moved from Leeds, Yorkshire (UK) and is expected to major in economics at Newcastle University in England. He played singles no. 1 for his college and finished 12-2 overall in his final season. Hillerby has represented her country in national junior tournaments and currently has a universal tennis rating of 11.7.
Gallegos will join the Hawks’ roster after four seasons at Tennessee Wesleyan, where he competed for the Bulldogs. In 2021, Gallegos was a Second Team All-Conference honoree and was ranked top 20 nationally in doubles. The following season, he finished as a First Team All-Conference pick and received Second Team All-America singles honors.
Gallegos is ranked No. 21 in the nation and currently has a universal tennis rating of 11.6.
