Netflix is a US company active in the streaming distribution of movies, television series and other paid entertainment content via the Internet. It was founded by Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph on August 29, 1997 in Scotts Valley, California.
In 2014, Netflix expanded its film and television production and online distribution. Its headquarters are in Los Gatos, California. Various content produced by Netflix has achieved considerable success with various nominations and some Oscar wins. In 2020, Netflix reached around 180 million subscribers worldwide; in fact, there was a surge in subscribers mainly linked to the COVID-19 pandemic that exploded in the first quarter of 2020.
