This start of the season has seen the return in style of one of the most important tennis players in this sport, Novak Djokovic. After a 2022 characterized by many lights and shadows, mainly due to his decision not to get vaccinated against the Coronavirus, which caused his exclusion from some of the most important events on the ATP calendar, the Serbian star began the new year winning everything he could win, that is, the Adelaide 250 tournament and the Australian Open.
Djokovic’s return to first place in the standings, to the detriment of Carlos Alcaraz, was the natural consequence of the very high performance of ‘Nole’, who had already won his sixth title at the ATP Finals in Turin at the end of last year.
Shortly after winning the title, ‘Nole’ announced that he would offer proof of his injury sustained during the Australian Major. Tournament director Craig Tiley defended the Balkan champion from criticism, adding that he competed with a three-centimeter hamstring tear.
The Serbian media Sportal waited for “Nole” at the exit of his training in Belgrade to try to get a statement from the world number one: they met a helpful Djokovic, who took photos with everyone present and gave an important update on the following days.
“In a few days I will say everything. However, I cannot anticipate anything now, I’m sorry. I have decided to give a press conference. There I will answer all your questions. I have already organized it with my communication team, the invitations for the press will arrive soon”, revealed Djokovic.
The 22-time Slam champion, according to the Serbian media, did the training without any particular problems. There is no trace of any kind of bandage, proof that the injury is over.
Novak Djokovic is a true legend
Former player Mary Joe Fernandez recently showered praise on Novak Djokovic for his resilience in pressure games.
“He’s definitely the one to beat every time he steps onto the court,” Fernandez said. “He just seems to find that next gear when he needs it most,” the former World No.4 asserted. “The only we remember doing it so well was Roger,” she said.
Joining Novak were Viktor Troicki, captain of the Serbian Davis Cup team and current coach of the Serbian Tennis Center, Claudio Zimaglia, his new physiotherapist, and Marco Panichi, his physical trainer. Next week the Dubai tournament will be held, a tournament in which Novak Djokovic will be present as the great favorite, a player who is waiting for an answer to find out if he will be able to enter the United States to play the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells and Miami.
