Paula Badosa is trying to fight back after some bad defeats. The Spaniard is back on the rivalry with Elena Rybakina. The Spanish tennis player is one of the most beautiful and interesting athletes on the WTA Tour. In addition to being beautiful, Paula is considered by many to be a candidate number one, but recently she has had several problems.
Bad defeats and major injuries slowed her growth and the former world number two slipped out of the world top 30. Little by little the tennis player is trying to react and this week she has strung together a series of important victories.
The very interesting match against Jessica Pegula in the Quarterfinals in Charleston was won by the US tennis player in straight sets, after a hard-fought match. Before this meeting, the former number two spoke in a conference, in which she discussed many topics and she joked about the rivalry with Elena Rybakina, a tennis player that she recently faced.
Paula Badosa is up 3-2 in the previous matches against Rybakina, but the Kazakh has won the last two previous ones, victories in Indian Wells and Miami. While in Indian Wells the Spaniard clearly came out against the then winner of the tournament, a bitter disappointment in Miami where Badosa wasted a match point and lost against the Kazakh.
Engaged in Charleston Paula Badosa has nailed a series of victories and joked with a smile in the press conference. Here are her words: “I feel that my tennis is coming, I feel confident again. Sometimes it has happened that you don’t feel this and you feel in difficulty, I feel that I am returning to find that confidence with the court, then maybe I face Rybakina again and it ends like the last times.” The tennis player joked like this in the conference, before the match against Pegula in Charleston.
Paula then concluded: “I think I’m in excellent condition, I could even be on the pitch for three hours, then the fact of playing on clay helps me.”
