
Pepperdine University women’s tennis team outlasted Gonzaga, Saturday afternoon as they defeated the Bulldogs 7-0 at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center for the Waves’ 10th straight victory. Pepperdine is back in action for a midweek match at UCLA on Wednesday, April 12th.
First serve at the Los Angeles Tennis Center is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. The court three combo of Anna Campana and Nikki Redelijk won 6-0 on court three. To clinch the doubles point, top pairing of Savannah Broadus and Janice Tjen beat the winners 6-1 on court one to give the Waves an early lead over Gonzaga going into singles.
Once in singles, Pepperdine kept her foot on the gas as she won all six first sets. No. 14 Broadus notched a 6-0, 6-2 court three victory over Jenna Sloan to double Pepperdine’s lead. Next to finish was Redelijk picking up a 6-0, 6-0 five-court victory over Rose Hayes.
To clinch the Pepperdine win, Bell beat Caroline Wernli 6-3, 6-1 on court six. The remaining three games were played. No. 30 Lisa Zaar (Stockholm, Sweden) triumphed 6-1, 6-0 on second court against Kianna Oda. Bunyawi Thamchaiwat then defeated Tiegan Aitken 6-3, 6-2 on court four before No.
10 Tjen beat Adrianna Sosnowska 6-1, 4-6, [11-9] to close out the match.
