Roger Federer underlines that his family is his top priority right now but is not closing the doors on accepting a job within tennis in the future. Federer, 41, retired from pro tennis in late September at the Laver Cup. Federer has two sets of twins as he is a father to two 13-year-old girls and two eight-year-old boys.
“I think I have to take the time to make the next move. I’m anyway still very busy. I mean, I have four children, and they mean everything to me. Twin boys that are 8 and twin girls that are 13. So that needs to be my priority with my wonderful wife, Mirka.
She’s been with me every step of the way. So, I’m really looking forward to what’s next. I want to see how I maybe stay involved in tennis in some shape or form. I’m not sure yet how it’s going to go because there’s not that many jobs if you want in tennis like in maybe in soccer or golf.
I feel like they have more. But, yeah, we are either a coach or a commentator, right? So, I’ll have to see. But I will always be open to mentor kids and do all that stuff,” Federer told Trevor Noah on The Daily Show.
Could Federer join the BBC?
In recent times, there have been reports about Federer potentially joining the BBC’s coverage for 2023 Wimbledon. Federer, a record eight-time Wimbledon champion, is a true icon at The All England Club.
Since Wimbledon is a two-week event and it is not something that will put Federer for too long away from his home, there seems to be a good chance of seeing Federer becoming a Wimbledon commentator one day. However, nothing has been confirmed yet as there have also been some rumors about certain Swiss channels wanting to have Federer as a commentator for 2023 Wimbledon. It remains to be seen if Federer will make his debut in the booth next year.
