Nick Kyrgios, along with Carlos Alcaraz, have been the two notable absences from this Australian Open. The Australian champion, most likely waiting to recover from injury and with his return to the circuit scheduled for the first 1000 of the season in Indian Wells, recently advanced his options for the game where he had to choose between the fabulous three who he would she would sleep with, who she would marry and who she would kill.
“This is difficult. I’ve thought about it before, always, always watching them in the dressing room. I’ll probably marry Novak, kill Rafa and make love to Roger Federer,” said Nick Kyrgios. “To win a Grand Slam you have to be a mental animal; Djokovic, Federer and Nadal, I think I respect them a little more now.
Playing against one of them in the final made me feel like I was fresh, like I hadn’t played tennis in the last two weeks, I never saw him agitated. It gives me a lot of confidence,” Kyrgios continued. The 27-year-old from Canberra believes that Wimbledon is the most important title you can win in tennis and is proud to have come one step away from achieving it last season, when he had to surrender only to Novak Djokovic in four sets.
“I think that Wimbledon is the most important title of all. I even talked to my team, thinking that if I won Wimbledon, it would be difficult for me to motivate myself. The truth is that I don’t know what I have to show more as a tennis player.
It’s exciting, I keep looking back and I’m still very confident. I was one step away from the trophy,” he concluded. Kyrgios has lifted seven ATP singles titles in his career, including four 500 and three 250. There are four finals that he has lost where, apart from Wimbledon, he was about to win the 1000 in Cincinnati, when he had to give in the final to Grigor Dimitrov.
His best ranking reached him in 2016 with the number 13 position although he could have reached and improved his ranking last season but the final of the London Major did not put any points at stake last year.
King Roger is a true legend
Roger Federer played his final career tournament in September last year at the Laver Cup.
“I’m not a big comeback fan,” Federer said, as per CNBC. “I’ll never retire and come back. It’s not something for me, squeeze that lemon out and when the last drop is out, I’ll know I’m done,” he explained. “Honestly, this knee situation has been complex, been difficult,” the former Swiss player stated.
“If you would have told me three or four years ago, that 2021-22 you’ll have three knee surgeries and still coming back, I’d have been like, ‘Are you crazy?'”
