Tennis icon Roger Federer was in New York on Sunday watching the game between the Brooklyn Nets and the Boston Celtics from the Barclays Center. Federer, who recently retired from professional tennis, had the chance to see some of the best basketball players in the world live, as the Nets and Celtics are one of the best teams in the NBA.
When Federer was introduced on the big screen, the Brooklyn crowd gave him a standing ovation and a warm welcome. In the end, the Celtics – who are led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown – defeated the Nets 103-92. At the end of September, Federer officially ended his amazing tennis career.
Since he retired, Federer has been spending time with his family, but also traveling to some countries. Last month, Federer was in Japan at an event organized by Uniqlo. After Japan, Federer traveled to the United States, since this past weekend he was in New York.
During his stay in Japan, Federer admitted that he was still a bit afraid of playing sports that include physical activity. In the same interview, Federer revealed that he would like to take his family on a trip to Africa. “I’m still a bit scared [when it comes to other sports] right after the withdrawal, as my knee has been a bit bad and that [skiing] has to wait.
As time goes by I will be able to do more trips and we are always planning our vacations and I want them to be a lot of fun. They can be a little more creative. I would love to take my children to Africa, whereas before vacations always had to be relaxing because my life on the road was so hectic, but now our vacations can be a bit more adventurous,” revealed Federer.
Roger Federer is a tennis legend
Roger Federer recently spoke about his remaining tennis goals during a fan event in Tokyo. “I want to go and play in places I’ve never been and thank the fans who have supported me throughout my career, that’s all I want.
My intention is also to organize exhibitions but it is still too early, unfortunately,” said the Swiss Legend. “My knee is not yet in perfect condition and I have to be patient. The doctors have advised me to be cautious and to wait a few months to see how the situation develops.
and this goes not only for tennis but also for other sports that I would like to play, but I have to take it easy,” he added.
