Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry had a special relationship, and by all accounts, they still have it today. Although there were some ‘tiffs’ in 2013, the Northern Irishman and Lowry are now great friends and clearly respect each other.
“I would say (talking about his relationship with Lowry) very close early on, not-so-close in the middle, and closer than ever now,” McIlroy said to Paul Kimmage in The Sunday Independent. “So, super close at that point.
Then I had a fall-out with Horizon in 2013 and it got a bit messy for a couple of years, not because one of us had done wrong to the other, but because of the circumstances.” Rory McIlroy’s wife and Lowry’s obviously get along well and are great friends, just like their children.
It’s great that two great golfers have such a good relationship. They can be an example to others. However, Rory emphasized what was the ‘root of all evil’ in the whole story.
Rory McIlroy: “The root of all evil was..”
“The BBC Sports Personality of the Year (awards) was in Belfast, and we went for a few drinks afterwards and had a really good chat,” McIlroy said. “So it’s really since he started playing here that we’ve got close again.
Erica and Wendy get on great, and our kids are a similar age. It’s all good. And do you know what it was over? Money, exactly. It is the root of all evil.” Rory McIlroy is currently one of the main personalities on the golf scene, both because of his great performances and because of his fight against LIV Golf.
Rory will make certain statements more and more and try to ‘defeat’ LIV Golf. His partner is Tiger Woods, and this story will continue for a long time. McIlroy knows how to attract attention! We will see his next move.
