Rory McIlroy is the man who is one of the loudest in the fight against LIV Golf. This time he went a step further and surprised everyone by revealing the content of Sergio Garcia‘s text messages. Garcia decided to become part of LIV Golf, and was obviously frustrated by McIlroy’s criticism of that competition.
“He [Garcia] was basically telling me to shut up about LIV, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah,” McIllroy said in an interview with the Irish Independent. “I was pretty offended and sent him back a couple of daggers and that was it.”
Sergio Garcia is happy with his decision and believes that he did not make a mistake. “I can only speak for myself, but I’ve definitely made the right decision. I feel like I’m where I want to be. Obviously, I knew some of the things that might happen if I joined here, but at the end of the day, as we’re seeing… you can see that some of the guys on the other side don’t really want me there”.

Sergio Garcia and Ryder Cup
Garcia will not compete in next year’s Ryder Cup. He doesn’t want to ‘upset’ anyone. “I don’t want to be a burden to anyone and even less in a Ryder Cup.
I’d rather be away from that as much as it hurts and make sure that Europe has the best chance of winning than me being there and three or four guys that are going to be there are going to be upset or something”.
Europe’s Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald still does not know whether LIV Golfers will have the right to perform at the Ryder Cup. “What’s going on in men’s professional golf at the moment is still kind of up in the air and I’m trying not to think about it,” Donald said to Golf, by TourMiss.
“I know there’s a court hearing coming up in February with the European Tour and LIV, so we are going to have to wait and see where it goes from there. And while I may be good friends with guys like Lee (Westwood), Sergio (Garcia) and many others, I am sure they know that my role is not to be political, nor is it my job to have any influence on those decisions. It’s not like I am coming out saying ‘this and that’, so far I’ve not had to face that”.
