As reported by the USF website, Sense Arena has announced its first NCAA tennis partnership with the men’s and women’s tennis programs at the University of South Florida. Student-athletes in both programs will now be able to supplement their on-court training using Sense Arena’s innovative VR technology, which operates through Meta Quest 2 and provides players with advanced visualization tools geared towards enhancing the mental aspects of the game such as anticipation and decision-making skills.
Yannick Yoshizawa, vice-chariman of tennis at Sense Arena, said, “We are excited to partner with the USF men’s and women’s tennis programs to officially launch Sense Arena into the collegiate tennis space. Florida has an amazing tennis culture and continues to be at the forefront of the sport, and USF has been key to the growth and development of the sport since initiating its tennis program over 50 years ago.We are excited to give USF athletes a new edge over the competition and we look forward to helping them maximize their performance.” Sense Arena for Tennis launched in November 2022 and is supported by a roster of top-level players who have started using the technology since its launch, including International Tennis Hall of Famer Martina Navratilova, ATP Pros Gonzalo Escobar, Miomir Kecmanovic, Emil Ruusuvuori and Jack Sock and WTA pros Jennifer Brady, Marie Bouzkova, Brenda and Linda Fruhvirtova, Liudmila Samsonova, Daria Saville and Luisa Stefani.
The USF men’s and women’s tennis programs, both incorporated in 1966, have an outstanding history in tennis and have established themselves as two of the most prestigious programs in the NCAA. The Bulls men’s team boasts 20 American Athletic Conference titles along with 17 NCAA Tournament appearances, while the women’s team has collected 13 American Athletic Conference titles and 11 NCAA Tournament appearances.
Cristina Moros, USF Women’s Head Coach, explained: “We couldn’t be more excited to begin our partnership with Sense Arena, and I can really see that this is a fantastic way for our players to work on visualization. It’s the perfect tool to use on recovery days when we want to exercise our mind and train our brain, really focusing on the mental aspects of tennis.” Ashley Fisher, head coach of USF men’s tennis, added: “Sense Arena offers a whole range of benefits and we are excited to work with them.
This is where tennis is moving; incorporating more technology and the platform of Sense Arena presents a unique space to improve and get really specific with the skills”. About USF Bulls are part of the American Athletic Conference in NCAA Division I (until 2013 they were part of the Big East Conference).
