Serena Williams says it was a pleasure for her to film a golf commercial celebrating gender equality but noted she is “100% not evolving into golf.” “Well It’s not about, First of all I want to have genuine life for the product right? Second of all, what are you doing outside of it? Something special, that is like about Michelob Ultra.
What I love is they really believe in gender equality and gender equity when it comes male and female in particular women athletes and men athletes and it is reflected in the commercial as well, second year in a row that they are [paying] same female athletes as they do male athletes,” Williams told Gayle King on CBS Mornings, per Sportskeeda.
In August, Williams announced her plans to “evolve away from tennis” after the US Open. When asked if she could pursue pro golf, Williams said: “I am 100% not evolving into golf.”
Williams has no plans to return to tennis
During the same conversation with King, Williams confirmed there are no plans for her to return to pro tennis.
“It’s hard to say. I would say no. For now, no. I’ve literally given my whole life to tennis, and it’s time for me to give my life to something else,” Williams said. Also, Williams revealed that her father Richard attempted to persuade her to play at least two more Grand Slams.
“He’s like, ‘Serena you should play two more Grand Slams.’ I’m like, ‘Dad, stop,'” Williams revealed. In the final tournament of her career, Williams reached the third round before losing to Ajla Tomljanovic. Williams received a beautiful sendoff at the US Open as the New York crowd came out to pay their respects to one of the greatest players in tennis history. In the end, Williams finished her career with 23 Grand Slams.
