Last year’s start seems like just a distant memory. Rafael Nadal, decidedly not in top condition in this United Cup, made up for his second stop of the season in Australia against home favorite Alex De Minaur in three very hard sets.
The Spanish champion seemed to be in control of the situation after winning the first set, instead suffering the ferocious reaction of his opponent, who didn’t give up and eventually got the upper hand.

The two expressed a great level of tennis in some moments of the match: in particular, an exchange surprised the audience in the stands. With a suoper moviment and a splendid dropshot, the winner of 22 Grand Slam titles drove De Minaur crazy, who had to give up and concede a sensational point to the Majorcan.
