Vanderbilt women’s tennis team beat Mississippi State 5-2! Dores will continue conference play at home, facing off against Tennessee on March 10 and Georgia on March 12. Vanderbilt head-coach Aleke Tsoubanos explained: “I’m so proud of this team to deliver a hard fought win in a really tough environment today.
We’re playing great doubles in all positions, and the momentum from doubles has carried over into singles. Bridget and Anessa played great tennis to give us a 3-0 lead, and I give Mississippi State a lot of credit for fighting their way back into the game.
CB’s effort to come back from a set and 5-2, giving us match point, it was absolutely huge.” Commodores took the doubles point for the seventh time this season with wins by Bridget Stammel and Anessa Lee on course 3 and by Anna Ross and Holly Staff on course 1.
In singles, Stammel was first to finish with a straight set victory on court 3, followed by Lee on court 4. Celia-Belle Mohr consolidated her match victory by battling her in three sets on court 1. The Dores and Bulldogs played the rest of their games in singles, where Vandy was able to earn an additional point with an Amy Stevens win.
