Venus Williams suggests Novak Djokovic has mastered footwork and young players should look up to the Serb if they want to learn how to have great footwork on the court. Williams, a seven-time Grand Slam champion, engaged with fans in a Q&A session on Instagram.
“What’s the best way to improve footwork?” a fan asked Williams on Instagram. Williams replied: “Short adjustments steps before you hit the ball. Take a look at @djokernole footwork. Great example.”
When will Williams play again?
After playing in just four tournaments last year, Williams kicked off her 2023 season in the first week of the season in Auckland.
Williams defeated Katie Volynets in the Auckland first round before suffering a hamstring injury and losing to Zhu Lin in the round-of-16. In late March, a fan asked Williams whether she was planning to play during the clay season.
“I would love to (return during the clay season! That’s the plan. We will see,” Williams answered. After beating Volynets and ending her six-match losing streak, Williams was hoping for more positive stories at the start of the 2023 season.
But Williams then suffered an unfortunate injury and was forced to return her Australian Open wildcard. “I knew that it was going to be a bad injury. That’s the point when I withdrew from the Australian Open. I had a wildcard and it was so awesome, but it wasn’t for me and I wanted someone else to have that opportunity because I knew I wouldn’t have a chance to play.
